A
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT COST CONTROL
Project
Budget Manager is a cost control program for projects with
budgets as small as $500 and as large as $5,000,000 or larger.
Developed for engineers rather than accountants, Project
Budget Manager emphasizes control of project costs in
preference to accounting for them after the fact.
WHERE
THE OTHERS FALL SHORT
Most
affordable project management programs like Microsoft Project
and CA SuperProject focus primarily on the scheduling aspects
of project management and include very limited means of
tracking project costs. Programs that provide more extensive
project cost control capability like Open Plan¸ are very
expensive and still require the user to program the budget
tracking requirements for each company’s needs.
Affordable
project managers are usually capable of tracking labor and
material costs for each activity although it is frequently not
desirable to monitor project budgets on an
activity-by-activity basis. Many projects are better monitored
on a category bases such as staff costs, labor costs, material
costs, subcontractor costs and so on. These categories seldom
match typical project schedule activities.
Most
project manager programs require the user to supply the
project expenditure as a total for each activity. Recording
relevant data and totaling expenditures is not possible.
Project Managers may be able to obtain data from their
Purchasing/Accounts departments, but seldom can obtain the
information in a format that can be used to manage the project
budget.
Project
Budget Manager
ELIMINATES THE PROBLEMS
Project
Budget Manager software is designed to maintain all project
income and expenditure data in one comprehensive database. The
Project Manager can enter the project budget in the format
that most suits his needs. Project Budget Manager can track
all project labor costs, invoices, purchase orders and
personnel. Project Budget Manager provides scheduled detailed
feedback that enables the Project Manager to closely monitor
actual expenditures against budgeted and forecast
expenditures.
